It seems like the newest version of iPad, the new iPad, could get a lot hotter than its older version (iPad 2). According to recent reports, a couple of new iPad 3 users noticed that the tablet has this unusual issue of getting hot especially when it’s being connected to a 4G LTE or Wi-Fi network. Apparently, complaints were submitted to Apple.
The company’s spokesperson, on the other hand, responded that there shouldn’t be anything to worry since the new iPad has been set within the standard range of thermal specifications. And if you take a close look at the stated list that provides the normal operating range for the new Apple slate, you will eventually learn that its heat will only be in between 32 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit. It has also been stated that the third generation Apple tablet will most likely shut down in case the heat would go beyond the stated range.
But that statement does not seem to coincide with the results that were obtained by Consumer Reports, a group that specializes in reviewing a wide variety of electronics, cars, tablets and smartphones. From what we have learned, the test that was recently conducted by the group showed that the new iPad reached the thermal level of 116 degrees Fahrenheit after running a harcore action game called Infinity Blade II. The test conducted involved the third generation iPad that was protected by its Smart Cover.
Furthermore, the tablet did not only get hotter but it also showed an uneven distribution of heat. That being said, a certain area of the slate’s rear part was hotter than the other areas. Even so, the group stated that they won’t give any final recommendation as to whether the slate will be good for tablet users. They even added that the heat was tolerable and they did not feel any serious discomfort.
It can be noted that the new iPad sports a battery with a larger capacity. The slate’s battery was purposely intended to cope up with its faster processor and Retina Display. Still, that doesn’t remove the fact that its 13 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the iPad 2. Users may not be able to hold the third generation iPad for a long period of time. But aside from the said issue, reviewers praised the new iPad for its 4G LTE connectivity and high resolution Retina Display. It’s just that it would be better if the new Apple tablet’s heat-prone battery will be fixed by the next software update.
