Apple iPhone 5 Front Panel Pictures Surface Online

Adding to the already lengthy string of rumors and supposed ‘leaks’ surrounding the iPhone 5 is the news that pictures of the front panel of the device have made their way online. Originally these pictures were published on a Chinese blog, Apple.Pro, and they feature pictures of two front panels that do not look that dissimilar to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The only difference between the two pictures are the colors of the front panels themselves; one of which is white and the other of which is black.

True or False?

While it is still anyone’s guess as to whether or not these pictures are legitimate leaks or whether they’re just another hoax, it must be said that there are some facets that tie in closely to other rumors that have been circulating online. For starters, the screen size on the front panels appears larger, which ties in to the rumor that the iPhone 5 would feature a larger screen than its predecessor. Also, the front camera gap appears larger as well which could mean that a larger camera sensor is going to be placed there for higher quality FaceTime calls.

Of course, skeptics will immediately point out that if anyone did want to publish pictures as a hoax they’d make certain that those pictures fit in with the other rumors that were floating about. Since no details are forthcoming about how this leak managed to find its way online, for now all that can be said for certain is that someone has released photos of front panels that look something like what people would expect on an iPhone. The fact that this leak comes out of China isn’t surprising especially considering the sheer popularity of Apple devices in the country and the almost fanatical following that have even started ordering the iPhone 5 on pre-orders from retailers despite it not being announced as yet.

When Will the iPhone 5 Show Up?

Only two things are known for certainty about the iPhone 5: The fact that it will run iOS 6 and the fact that it will include Apple’s new 3D maps as opposed to Google Maps. Because iOS 6 is still in beta, the chances of the iPhone 5 showing up soon are rather slim although many sources are still pinning August 7th as the date when an official announcement will be made. It is a safe bet that Apple may try to get the device out sometime in late September or October so that they’ll be on shelves in time for the holiday season, but there are really no solid details available.

For now, Apple aficionados will have to content themselves with rumors, and ‘leaked’ information such as these photos that will undoubtedly crop up more and more frequently over the next few weeks and months. Frankly speaking, until Apple really does announce the iPhone 5 and provide more details it is likely that the speculation will just will just increase just as it did with other highly anticipated devices such as the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and Samsung Galaxy S III. Who knows, it might even turn out that these photos are the real deal.
