Apple iPhone 5 Announcement Now Slated For August 7th

Already the cacophony of rumors surrounding the iPhone 5 has reached dizzying heights. Not only have rumored specifications made their way online, but concept art, allegedly official renders, and engineering samples have all surfaced over the last few months. Just last week some retailers in China even started to take pre-orders for the device with some charging the ‘full price’ upfront. Now, the suspicion is that the iPhone 5 could be a lot closer than most people expect, and Apple is expected to reveal their latest handset to the world on the 7th of August.

Real Announcement Date or Just Another Rumor?

While the fact of the matter is that this supposed ‘August 7th’ announcement date could just turn out to be another rumor, the one thing that it does have going for it is the fact that Apple traditionally unveils its iPhone handsets in the summer. Of course, they did depart from this convention with the iPhone 4S, but that may just be the exception to the rule. Also, if it is true that the iPhone 5 will be announced (and released) sometime in August then it coincides quite well with another rumor that had stated that the iPhone 5 went into production in June giving it a two month window to produce enough handsets to ship for the release.

On the other side of the spectrum however, the August 7th date is being called into doubt by those who point out that while iOS 6 is already in beta it is still a long way away from being a finished product. It is unlikely that the iPhone 5 will ship with iOS 5 and then be updated to iOS 6 later, and so it is reasonable to assume that Apple will want iOS 6 to be ready to ship in tandem with the iPhone 5. Some point out that with a three week window until August the 7th, Apple could attempt speed up the beta testing of the iOS 6 but it would still be cutting it rather close.

What to Expect from the iPhone 5

So far, all the rumors about the iPhone 5 seem to reinforce the fact that it should be a slimmer but longer device that features a bigger screen than its predecessors. Needless to say it is also expected to receive a bump in processing power, and feature a more polished version of Siri. Although there have been some outlandish rumors about the device featuring a 3D camera, it is unlikely to turn out to be true. Still, Apple may have a few surprises up its sleeve when the iPhone 5 is finally announced.

It may be a bit too early to mark out August 7th on your calender, but if a suspiciously large Apple event is scheduled for anywhere near that date then it may lend further credence to this latest ‘announcement date’. Many other sources still are confident that the iPhone 5 will only be released in September or October however, so there’s really no telling which date is more likely at this point in time.

Apple iPhone 5 Pre-Order in China: Rumored Specs & Release Date

Although the iPhone 5 is  a long way away from being released, that hasn’t stopped retailers in China from starting to accept pre-orders for the device. These retailers both online and offline have started displaying pictures of the purported new iPhone and some have even been posting technical specifications of the device.

Considering how tight lipped Apple have been about anything and everything to do with the iPhone 5, the source of these photos and technical specifications is somewhat dubious. Closer inspection has since revealed that many have been sourced from iPhone 5 rumors and mock-ups that have appeared online in the last few months.

Some Chinese retailers are even using pictures that closely resemble the iPod Touch.

Despite all of that, these pre-orders have already reportedly started to sell. Bearing in mind the immense popularity that Apple enjoys in China, this should come as no surprise. Some of the retailers are accepting pre-orders for a small ‘booking fee’ of about $200, while others are charging a full $1,100 upfront.

No release dates are offered by any of the retailers however.

Rumored iPhone 5 Specifications

There are a lot of rumors about regarding the iPhone 5 and what it will look like as well as what sort of specifications it will come with beneath its exterior.

Many rumors agree on the fact that the iPhone 5 will feature a bigger screen, and will have a much more sleek ‘unibody’ design for its aluminium casing that is reminiscent of the MacBook Air. As of yet the sources of these rumors are unconfirmed, but considering the iPhone 5 is set to compete against Samsung’s Galaxy S3, it stands to reason that it will probably have a larger screen than its predecessor.

Another rumor that is also unconfirmed is that the iPhone 5 will run on Apple’s new A6 quad core processors.

Last but certainly not least one of the more outlandish theories is that the iPhone 5 will come with a 3D camera that is capable of recording both still images and video in 3D. The source of this theory is a patent that Apple supposedly filed for that outlines a 3D imaging camera, but both the existence of the patent and whether or not such a camera is targeted for the iPhone 5 is in doubt.

Expected iPhone 5 Release Details

As of right now Apple has still not made any official announcement regarding when the iPhone 5 will be available. Many are expecting a ‘late fall’ release sometime from September to November however.

The most likely rumor regarding the iPhone 5′s release is that in late September it will be ‘unveiled’ by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, before being finally released sometime in October. Even this is uncertain however, and until Apple actually comes up with a date it is really all just speculation.

While the iPhone’s popularity has already been well documented, this is the first time that retailers are actually accepting pre-orders for the device when there isn’t even an official release date. The worry is that some of these ‘pre-orders’ may actually turn out to be scams to take advantage of those who want to be among the first to get their hands on Apple’s new smartphone.

iPhone 5 Featuring 4-Inch Display & Sleeker Design To Land in Q3

While almost every smartphone manufacturer making buzz about their upcoming devices and releases, Apple couldn’t stand being left behind doing nothing. That’s why on Monday, a report indicated that the Cupertino-based technology titan will be releasing a new model of its famous iPhone this time with bigger display and newer, sleeker look. Brian White, Topeka Capital Markets analyst, received information during his meeting with suppliers in China that the next generation iPhone will completely be different and new. A new 4-inch screen is supposed to be used for the iPhone 5 and will come with a Unibody case to have a sleeker appearance, White said.

Moreover, Apple might give its go signal to begin fabrication of iPhone 5 parts in June. If it will go in that time range, it is possible that we will be able to see the new iPhone in August or September. Well, no one really knows what will become the official name of the next generation iPhone. Others call it, iPhone 4S refresh, and some call it iPhone 5 and that include us here. Maybe Apple will call it the New iPhone when released just like its New iPad. But anyway, if the rumors were true, then it won’t take long before we can see another stunning device from the technology giant.

The 4 inches screen or display will definitely be larger than what the current iPhone has (3.5 inches) but it will never be huge that it will lose its sense of pocketability. Most of the smart phones released by other manufacturers have 4 inches displays or even bigger but iPhone owners are stuck with 3.5-incher because according to the late Steve Jobs, it is the perfect size for everyone in which many tech enthusiasts also agree. However, the plan of inducing Apple’s newest Retina Display technology may require larger displays. If this will be realized, then next gen iPhone owners will enjoy a resolution around 768 x 1024 pixels and ~316 PPI. Alongside these rumors come another suggesting that it may sport an A5X chip and 1 GB RAM just like the New iPad.

The 4G LTE is also cited by tech enthusiasts to be one of the features of the new iPhone to be able to cope up with the latest trends in the world of smartphones. We don’t know the exact release date as well as the price because basically the production hasn’t been started yet. But there is always truth behind these rumors. What they are will be revealed in due time. Anyway, if you are an iPhone 4S owner, would you buy this iPhone? Or does it even make an appeal to you?

Apple iPhone 5 Specs & Release Date Rumored: 4+ Inch Display

As for those who are quite eager to know more about the status of the rumored next-gen iPhone, we’ve heard that the handset is currently gearing up for mass production. If you can still recall, we did mention in our previous posts that Apple could be preparing for the upcoming release of its latest iPhone version.

Even so, there were no clear statements that could confirm the phone’s features and specifications. But guess what? An unnamed yet reliable source from Foxconn (courtesy of 9to5mac) leaked that prototypes of the rumored iPhone 5 have been circulating around certain establishments. The source added that these sample handsets vary in terms of features and specs. Nonetheless, there’s a common feature that could possibly hint that the next-gen Apple handset will be made longer and wider than the current iPhone 4S. That being said, all models were sporting a large 4+ inch display.

But that’s not all. It was also revealed that the iPhone 5 will not be offered as a teardrop-shaped device. Instead, it will be a symmetrically shaped handset with a form factor that won’t be made similar to the earlier iPhone versions. Do take note that none of these sample devices have been claimed as the final version. Another important thing to consider is the timeframe allotted for the handset’s production. Given the fact that the production of the iPhone 4S started on late spring and if we tend to follow the month-interval, there’s a great chance that the iPhone 5 will hit the shelves by summer instead of fall.

Looking back at the previous rumors, it was mentioned that the next-gen Apple iPhone will be housed in a redesigned form factor. One of the key highlights of the completely redesigned model will be the rubber/plastic bezel. It’s really up to you if you want to remain sceptical. Just bear in mind that there’s no confirmation or whatsoever from Apple.

Rumor: Apple iPhone 5 4G LTE Hit Stores in Q3

Apple has been the playground for many rumors to dwell. Here is one such rumor about the next gen iPhone – the iPhone 5. Well, we all expected Apple to release iPhone 5 earlier, but then the iPhone 4S had to be an intermediate step for the awesome personal assistant Siri. Now that the “Siri hype” has gone down a bit, Apple is back with its subtle leaks on the next iPhone.

So what can we expect (reasonable ones of course) from the iPhone 5? The iPhone 5 will be slimmer and a tad wider than the iPhone 4S.Apart from the reduced thickness, the next gen iPhone might undergo a weight reduction course as well – there is a rumor in the air that Apple is planning to use a different casing material for their next smartphone.

Now let’s jump into the possible interiors for this monster of a phone. The iPhone 5 will probably be powered by the Qualcomm quad core chip. This means that this phone is user-ready for both 3G and 4G LTE networks. So for all those sulking about the absence of 4G support in 4S, the iPhone 5 will satisfy your needs.Apart from these there are certain obvious features like the iOS5, iCloud, a better display an 8MP camera and of course, Siri enabled

Though the sales figures of the iPhone 4S were humongous, we know that the iPhone 4S had its own glitches. Let’s hope that the same is not repeated with the iPhone 5.Our sources have revealed that this smartphone will be ready by the end of Q2 and will be available in the stores by Q3. With iPad 3 being developed side by side 2012 should be one expensive year for all the Apple fans.
