Apple iPhone 5 Release Date Slated For June 2012 At WWDC 2012

For sure, a lot of Apple fans out there are eagerly waiting for the next iPhone version. There have been speculations that the next-gen iPhone will be equipped with a larger display and will be housed in a completely redesigned form factor. Of course, these specs will remain as leaks unless we get an official word of confirmation from Apple. And speaking of which, we’ve heard from recent reports that it is very likely for the iPhone 5 to make an appearance at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The said event will take place in San Francisco this coming June 2012.

In fact, the iPhone 5 has long been part of our pool of rumors. At first, there were hunches that the phone will be equipped with a more improved version Siri, the AI virtual assistant for iPhones. Then, there were leaks stating that the iOS handset will flaunt a bigger screen. Despite of these, none can really confirm the existence of the said next-gen iPhone.

It wasn’t until last month that we’ve heard something that could somewhat hint the phone’s early production. A certain Foxconn employee did leak that the iPhone 5 is currently being prepared for mass production. The anonymous tipster even added that the next-gen Apple handset will be made thicker and longer than the current iPhone 4S and it will not be offered as a teardrop-shaped phone. There’s also a possibility that the iPhone 5 will be the first phone to make use of Sprint’s blazing fast 4G LTE.

As of now, all that we can do is hope that the iPhone 5 will be announced sooner so that we can prepare our dough. Come to think of it, iOS handsets usually don’t come cheap. The iPhone 4S, for example, is currently being sold for 649 USD. That’s if you skip those two-year contracts from Sprint, AT&T and Verizon.

Apple iPhone 5 Specs & Release Date Rumored: 4+ Inch Display

As for those who are quite eager to know more about the status of the rumored next-gen iPhone, we’ve heard that the handset is currently gearing up for mass production. If you can still recall, we did mention in our previous posts that Apple could be preparing for the upcoming release of its latest iPhone version.

Even so, there were no clear statements that could confirm the phone’s features and specifications. But guess what? An unnamed yet reliable source from Foxconn (courtesy of 9to5mac) leaked that prototypes of the rumored iPhone 5 have been circulating around certain establishments. The source added that these sample handsets vary in terms of features and specs. Nonetheless, there’s a common feature that could possibly hint that the next-gen Apple handset will be made longer and wider than the current iPhone 4S. That being said, all models were sporting a large 4+ inch display.

But that’s not all. It was also revealed that the iPhone 5 will not be offered as a teardrop-shaped device. Instead, it will be a symmetrically shaped handset with a form factor that won’t be made similar to the earlier iPhone versions. Do take note that none of these sample devices have been claimed as the final version. Another important thing to consider is the timeframe allotted for the handset’s production. Given the fact that the production of the iPhone 4S started on late spring and if we tend to follow the month-interval, there’s a great chance that the iPhone 5 will hit the shelves by summer instead of fall.

Looking back at the previous rumors, it was mentioned that the next-gen Apple iPhone will be housed in a redesigned form factor. One of the key highlights of the completely redesigned model will be the rubber/plastic bezel. It’s really up to you if you want to remain sceptical. Just bear in mind that there’s no confirmation or whatsoever from Apple.
